Hello Cougs I hope everyone is ready to have a safe and fun Thanksgiving break in a few days. I just wanted to take a second to remind you of a recent event that we organized in conjunction with our local police and fire departments, the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic and Alpha Omicron Pi among other campus groups.About two weeks ago on November the 3rd, we held a large event during our first annual Anti Drunk Driving Awareness Week. Right around eight in the morning we began to set up and within the next sixty minutes students on the mall would be faced with a scene that few often witness and some have never experienced at all. Below is an image of a fatal car crash that we staged on the steps of Todd Hall on that morning.
Thanks to ASWSU and the Student Advertisement Funding Board, which was recently established this year, we were able to have a full page ad in the Daily Evergreen and also supply students with 250 shirts that bore the words Take Their Keys- We're not Invincible.
WSU has at times had an unfortunate history of loosing friends, family and coworkers to this terrible decision that's completely preventable if we only choose to obey the law, respect our loved ones, and protect our community and the individuals around us.
Please make the decision to be safe this next week and in the future as we show unity as Cougars in our decision to not drink and drive.
Additionally we would like to extend a special thanks to Triple D Towing for the donation of their time, service and car for the event. Thank you once again to all of our sponsors for empowering our message and clearly reaching a number of students.
GIVE HOPE. GIVE LOVE. GIVE BACK.
Sincerely,
Edison Kent
